The Great Wall of Kitchenistan has fallen.
One morning, life as we knew it over the last six months was normal. By afternoon, the emblem of our suffering has been whisked away. In its place, an open unsoffited gash gouged into the old storied wall from floor to ceiling. This opening will now stand as a permanently open boarder with our neighbors to the east in Kitchenistan.
It is hard to believe that this new era of detente is now at hand with the region that has so dominated our lives---but it appears that this is just a small sign of the changes that will arrive in the weeks to come... Can free trade lead to a reunification of our homeland in the coming months? The glow of newly installed lights from the other side implies that may be so.
I can hear, "Right Here, Right Now" playing over and over as the video goes out for the world to see... The song is reborn in my head. "I was alive and I waited for this," indeed...
Truer words were never sung in my house.
