My Kind of Town? Not Today.

Normally, I'll sing the praises of Chicago to the heavens. Cool town. A green mayor who gives the "Chicago Salute" from his bike... Outstanding, right?

Not today. Had to get our permit updated for the plumbing work, which is something I have to do as I am both the home owner and technically the general contractor... So, I filled out the forms and drove down to the city's satellite office at 95th and Jeffrey, which is not really close to home at all. Why the haul? First off, they have Saturday hours... And no sense in going to the second and third reasons as Saturday hours were spontaneously jettisoned this week. Apparently at all of the neighborhood permit centers, not just the one on the south side.

But at 95th, there was a note on the door saying that services continued at 400 W. Superior. Needless to say, it was a bit of a drive. And of course, was closed. Grr. Will have to go to city hall during the week. I do not relish the thought...
