Where once there was a kitchen, now there is an open barren shell.
Where once there was a dining room that opened on that kitchen, now there is a wall.
What a weekend! Earthmovers scoured the earth clear of our yard. A dumpster is full of refuse remaining from our roof, and newly scratched from the walls of what used to be my kitchen. Our refrigerator is in good hands with new owners far south of here. And we have begun to realize what life is going to be like for the next few months---and it is going to suck.
We have a tiny little refrigerator that looks like a diminutive copy of the big cold box that no longer resides at 4805. And a George Forman Grill. And a coffee maker... And that is it until we re-hang our microwave on the temporary wall that is being constructed in my dining room as I type. Jo-Elle is studying elsewhere and I cannot change out of my work clothes because Gambel (our cat) is locked in our bedroom to keep her from scurrying out of the house post-haste from all the noise. I can't blame her---the din of circular saws, dropped construction supplies, nails being driven is going to get old fast. But for now it is pretty exciting. We've been working towards this for a year now...
Concrete work has begun, with the first layer of the foundation poured today. Thankfully, Jeremy the project manager and carpenter was around to ensure that no corners were cut (despite attempts made to cut those corners).
Gotta run, it sounds like Gambel is clawing her way through the bedroom door. This is going to be even harder on her...
I have been trying to upload pix all night---something is going on with Blogger...
