We had another sonogram this morning. It was a bit of a letdown... Previously we were getting our first glimpse of Cletus. Or finding out the baby's gender. Today...just more black and white blotches on the monitor.
"There's the femur." OK.
"There's the head." OK.
"See the abdomen?" Ummm...no.
"See the heart?" Ummm, the black blotch that is moving?
Jo-Elle's mom joined us for the hospital visit and she was actually far more interesting to watch. The technology boggled her mind.
"How does that thing work?"
"That picture is painted by sound?"
"Does it get loud in there? Will the sound hurt the baby's ears?"
"Wait...where is the head? The white spot or dark blur?"
Its kinda funny to think that this technology that has become so ubiquitous that it is in most every hospital in America wasn't even around when Jo and I were born. What do you suppose Cletus will be looking at when viewing the next generation of Mogerpeople in utero?
The good news is that Cletus is growing. And weighing in at one pound 12 ounces, is exhibiting all the proper signs of development.

I just read that Cashew or Pecan or whatever nut we're calling my son/daughter-to-be has just reached the size of a banana if s/he's growing according to the norm. Since, like you, I can't make heads or tales of our most recent sonogram, I've decided to take pictures of a banana on K's stomach as an alternative, which I think will be good, since 1) these pics will be in color. 2) I can tell which end is up and 3) I won't accidentally figure out the sex of the baby/banana... I think.
Jason...please post those photos. The world needs to see them.
