Updated update

Been travelin' so I haven't been bloggin'. But that doesn't mean that nothing is happening in the great land of Kitchenistan...

...but that's not to say it's been busy either...

Things are picking up again this week:
  • Floor was re-done...again...today. I am choking on the fumes right now. But it looks better each time and hopefully three times really is a charm.

  • Stone for the benches arrived finally. Should be in by the weekend.

  • The back screen is up and looks gorgeous, albeit a bit towering.

  • Final electrical inspection is a thing of the past. And we passed.

  • New wall board went up in the basement...so the house is once again coated in insidiously fine white dust that gets everywhere...even your underwear... Still, the basement looks roomier and more together now.

  • There are registers on the floor. Guess what kind they are...!?!

  • Too late for our most recent house guest, but the new sink and vanity are in the back bathroom.

  • I started doing demo on the tile in the very same upstairs bathroom as we were going to do a custom plastic shower liner and then canceled on the dodgy system...but still need to do tile or something (anyone know a good tiler?)...so I started to pull the tile and found yet another cheap, lazy, stupid, flip trick that the previous "owner" did in prepping the house. He put the tile directly on wall board (instead of proper cement board) and did not even put the sheetrock in right. Grr. Yet something else that we've now undone and done right (no insulation either---that is also addressed which is important given the fact that this runs along an exposed wall with plumbing...again, duh...and again...jackass). Still need to get the tile done in both bathrooms (did I ask if you know a good tiler? well I am asking again...).
Once the stone is in the heavy lifting is done (literally and figuratively) with a few structural elements and a few aesthetic ones still needing to be put in place...but we are close. Expect to grill with us soon!
