Long Live the Minister of Construction

The Kitchenistani Minister of Construction was allowed back in the country this week. As you can see, he worked closely with the Minister of Forestry. Cabinet doors are all in. As noted before, they were built here in Chicago. MDF core wrapped in a sepili veneer. As green as we can do... And they look pretty darn spectacular. I love the banded grain of the wood. It has a great luminosity to it that catches the light.

Simple brushed stainless steel bars are going in as the hardware. All are in place save the larger bars for the tall cabinets (the lovely blue tape shows the length while we wait for them to arrive.

The wood is not limited to the walls. The tongue is in place too. An 8-foot slab is dropped a few inches from the ceiling to create a transition from the dining room into the kitchen.

Lighting is just about done with a new bathroom lamp and under/over cabinet lights put into place.

Final inspections coming up as soon as next week!

(NOTE: the refrigerator is temporarily stuck out in preparation for the cabinetry panels to be re-sized, but it will sit flush at some point...)

Josh, those look great! Kudos on thinking out of the box on the selection (not pun intended).
