On Deck

It has been sort of boring of late. Nothing fun. No exciting additions that help to give form to Kitchenistan or pretty stuff for finishing up. Just a lot of plumbing and some follow up framing.

But this should be a big week this week.

  • We expect to get delivery of the indoor flooring on Monday. Ditto the cabinet boxes. Jeremy and his crew will get to sorting and building out cabinets this week. Need to find someone to do the floor.

  • The plumbing inspector should be in and I hear that these visits are always an adventure. That goes well, we can put the sinks and toilets back into place.

  • We will get samples of the counter surface we will likely be using---a quartz composite called Caesarstone. More on that later.

  • I hope to also start seeing samples from the millworker making the cabinet doors.

  • Final drawings for the wide and tall windows came back and were almost approved (one change). They should be ordered this week.

  • As noted below, the steel steps we had fabricated for the outside were wrong. Hopefully, they will build new ones this week.

  • And hey, if it stops snowing and freezing (Chicago's weather has been atrocious over the last few weeks), we might even get the stucco guys in here to finish the exterior.
