Well, this is shaping out to be a slow week... It is raining...there's some dispute about the materials to be used as a water barrier on the concrete. The masonry guys who were hot to trot last week have disappeared this one...
Anyway, they poured concrete Friday. Forms have already been pulled...so we have these odd walls reaching forth from the gaping hole that was our back yard. Later in the week, we should have the basement extension floor poured along with a new side walkway both for us and our 91 year old neighbor Mr. Price (I need to write about him later---he's a trip). They unnecessarily ripped off one of his side walkways...ugh. But this concrete cannot be done until we get a plumber in to do some work on the exterior drain that we will be tying into which has also been a problem. Since it is a small job, there has not been a lot of interest. Its funny, with the slowdown in the housing market, the trade guys are supposed to be desperate---but we have not seen it yet. I bet that changes next month... So hopefully Thursday for the other concrete stuff. And maybe masonry later in the week. Those two are kind of bottlenecks---there's a lot of carpentry to be done, but not until the masonry and concrete are out of the way...so this week we wait.
Still plenty to do---we have five figures worth of glass to order. Cabinets and countertops to choose. And interior flooring to buy. But hey, I did buy our decking for an insanely cheap price last weekend---good lookin' out by the project manager.
